U.S. Congress recently approved $165 Billion for for and the extension of military occupation and exercises in Iraq and Afghanistan. That may sound good for generals and even for troops eager for action, but will it be good for America in the long run? Budweiser is now in foreign ownership and more all-American brands might change hands with overseas business. Gas prices are hurting motorists, and consumers no longer feel happy spending their hard-earned money. Then this. A military splurge. Good or bad? You tell me.
I think there is always a better way in dealing with foreign policy without neglecting domestic affairs. Government, which takes so much from the citizenry, should be there when airlines are closing one by one, and more consumer woes are dampening the headlines. How can America benefit from all these foreign engagements?
As a foreign observer, this merits an analysis.
It is just too excessive, without a definite timetable for withdrawal, while it definitely drains the government means in rescuing business, airlines, and consumer confidence.
Or does government care. Can those in power care more?
